Amy Shutt
Amy Shutt is the founder of The Canid Project, a 501c3 non-profit focusing on wild canid education, outreach, and rescue. She is a professional documentary photographer and multimedia producer interested in the sensory-rich storytelling of wildlife science, natural history, and conservation. Her projects combine historical research, contemporary research with visual and auditory storytelling to create dynamic multimedia that educates and inspires action.
Amy’s work has been published in books and magazines as well as recognized, most notably by the Nature's Best Windland Smith Rice International competition and displayed in the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC.
The Red Wolf Project is her first full time multimedia project effort. It is sponsored by The Canid Project. She hopes to preserve, educate, and inspire through this endeavor.
Karin Saucedo
Karin was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. She has always been committed to making a difference in the lives of animals and always uses an ethical approach when photographing. She is especially passionate about felines and canids and dedicates a lot of her time to studying their behavior remotely through camera traps. Karin will be helping to document the research efforts for this project as acts as our Texas Representative. She is also the Texas Coordinator for The Canine Ancestry Project and continues to collect and submit coyote DNA. Karin is also The Canid Project’s Texas Outreach Representative. She and her husband Robert are co-authors on The Canid Project’s Coyote Co-existence Guide. Do you have concerns or questions about Texas coyotes in your area? James Van Remsen Jr., Ph.D
Van Remsen is the McIlhenny Distinguished Professor at Louisiana State University. His expertise is in Ecology, Systematics, and Evolutionary Biology. He received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and his Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of California at Berkeley. In 2013, Van Remsen received the Brewster Medal of the American Ornithologists' Union for his contributions to the study of the South American avifauna. He has received awards from LSU for excellence in both undergraduate teaching and graduate student advising. In 2016, Remsen was one of the co-authors of the richly illustrated Field Guide to the Birds of Bolivia. Van acts as a consultant and mentor in regards to scientific information we disseminate for this project.
